painting the body
my MIM tele sunburst just wasn't cutting it, although I love the craftsmanship of MIM teles because they're really a "good enough" quality kind of guitar, they're cheaper and you can tell where they cut corners. the first thing I noticed was the sunburst wasn't faded very well, it was more like three distinct colors and the red was barely visible. once the paint was removed I realized that the body was about 8 or 9 pieces of alder and a wafer thin laminate of ash on top and back. I guess it was cheaper than making it a 2 piece body and ash I guess is prettier. I personally like alder's grain but what's done is done. the wiring was also crap so I decided to make something out of it. I painted the body a creamish white and my brother is going to do some art on the front and I'm going to do some art on the back, in excited!!
